Abstract:
The need for philosophy—which we can describe as one of humanity’s greatest and most significant intellectual achievements, alongside science and art, since its inception—is even greater today, given the conditions of our time. This is because philosophy—through its inquiry into the realms of being, knowledge, and values—has always managed to remain relevant and contemporary by taking into account the conditions of its time. Nevertheless, while at various times in the history of philosophy one of the debates—whether on being, knowledge, values, humanity, science, belief, or art—has taken center stage, and even as the forms or methods of doing philosophy have changed, philosophy has preserved its essence as philosophy—that is, as a form of inquiry distinguished by its unique structure, independent of all other disciplines.
