Mario Pilo’nun Psicologia Musicale adlı eseri, 19. yüzyılın sonlarında müzik, insan bilinci ve duygusal algı arasındaki kesişimi inceleyen öncü bir İtalyan çalışmasıdır. Pilo, akustik uyarıcıların psikolojik deneyimlere nasıl dönüştüğünü araştırırken, ses algısının fizyolojik mekanizmalarını tetiklediği öznel estetik ve duygusal tepkilerle birlikte analiz eder. Döneminin erken deneysel psikolojisinden ve evrimsel teorilerinden yararlanarak; müziksel ifadenin, ritmin ve harmoninin insan sinir sistemiyle olan ilişkisini inceler. Psicologia Musicale by Mario Pilo is a pioneering late 19th-century Italian work exploring the intersection of music, human consciousness, and emotional perception. Pilo investigates how acoustic stimuli translate into psychological experiences, analyzing the physiological mechanisms of sound perception alongside the subjective aesthetic emotional responses they provoke. Drawing upon early experimental psychology and evolutionary theories of his time, he examines the origins of musical expression, rhythm, and harmony in relation to the human nervous system. The book offers a foundational framework for musical aesthetics by scientifically grounding music’s capacity to evoke complex human feelings, bridging sensory physiology with psychological theory.
