Henry C. Sheldon’ın New Testament Theology (Yeni Ahit Teolojisi, 1911) adlı çalışması, Yeni Ahit metinlerinde yer alan dini düşünceyi ve doktrinel gelişimi tarihsel-sistematik bir yaklaşımla inceler. Sheldon, yapıtı farklı kutsal metin geleneklerine ayırarak İsa’nın öğretilerini, Sinoptik İncilleri, Yuhanna edebiyatını ve Pavlus’un mektuplarını kendi teolojik özgünlükleri içinde analiz eder. Dogmatik kalıplar dayatmak yerine; Tanrı’nın Egemenliği, Mesih bilimi (Kristoloji), kurtuluş doktrini, Kutsal Ruh ve Hristiyan ahlakı gibi temel temaların erken dönem Yahudi ve Greko-Romen bağlamda nasıl biçimlendiğini araştırır. Eser, 19. yüzyıl kutsal metin eleştirisini sistematik teolojiyle birleştirerek erken dönem Hristiyan düşüncesinin kapsamlı bir haritasını sunar.

Henry C. Sheldon’s New Testament Theology (1911) presents a systematic, historical investigation into the religious thought and doctrinal development contained within the New Testament scriptures. Sheldon divides the text into distinct biblical traditions, analyzing the specific theological perspectives of Jesus’s teachings, the Synoptic Gospels, Johannine literature, and Pauline epistles. Rather than imposing dogmatic categories, the work explores how key themes—such as the Kingdom of God, Christology, salvation, the Holy Spirit, and Christian ethics—unfolded within their early Jewish and Greco-Roman contexts. Sheldon’s study bridges rigorous 19th-century biblical criticism with systematic theology, offering a clear conceptual map of early Christian thought.
