Francis Bacon, The Advancement of Learning adlı eserinde insan bilgisinin kapsamlı bir biçimde yeniden inşasını önerir. Skolastik mantığın ve otoriteye dayalı bilgi anlayışının sınırlılıklarını eleştirerek ilerlemenin gözleme, tümevarıma ve düzenli deneye dayandığını savunur. Bacon, bilgi dallarını sınıflandırır, dönemin entelektüel eksiklerini ortaya koyar ve toplumsal faydayı merkeze alan yeni bir araştırma modeli tasarlar. Eser, erken modern felsefenin kurucu metinlerinden biri olarak bilimsel devrimin yöntemsel ilkelerinin şekillenmesinde belirleyici bir rol oynar.

Abstract:
In The Advancement of Learning, Francis Bacon proposes an ambitious reconstruction of human knowledge based on empirical methods.
