Öz:
Gabriel Compayré’nin Pedagojinin Tarihi adlı eseri, antik çağdan on dokuzuncu yüzyıla kadar eğitim düşüncesinin sistematik bir incelemesini sunar. Compayré, önemli filozofların ve reformcuların pedagojik fikirlerini inceleyerek, çocukluk, öğretim, disiplin ve ahlaki oluşum kavramlarının tarihsel dönemler boyunca nasıl geliştiğini izler. Klasik Yunan ve Roma eğitiminden başlayarak, ortaçağ skolastisizmi, Rönesans hümanizmi ve Aydınlanma rasyonalizmi üzerinden ilerleyerek, modern eğitim reformcularıyla doruğa ulaşır. Eser, pedagojiyi daha geniş entelektüel, dini ve sosyal bağlamlara yerleştirerek, eğitim teorisi ile kurumsal uygulama arasındaki ilişkiyi vurgular. Batı eğitim felsefesinin tarihsel gelişimini anlamak için temel bir metin olmaya devam etmektedir.
Abstract:
The History of Pedagogy by Gabriel Compayré offers a systematic survey of educational thought from antiquity to the nineteenth century. Compayré examines the pedagogical ideas of major philosophers and reformers, tracing how conceptions of childhood, instruction, discipline, and moral formation evolved across historical periods. Beginning with classical Greek and Roman education, he proceeds through medieval scholasticism, Renaissance humanism, and Enlightenment rationalism, culminating in modern educational reformers. The work situates pedagogy within broader intellectual, religious, and social contexts, emphasizing the relationship between educational theory and institutional practice. It remains a foundational text for understanding the historical development of Western educational philosophy.
