Lord Brougham’ın bu etkili incelemesi, doğal ilahiyatı tümevarımsal akıl yürütmeye dayanan titiz ve ampirik bir bilim dalı olarak savunmaktadır. Brougham, fiziksel dünyanın ve insan zihninin karmaşık tasarımının incelenmesinin, Yüce bir Varlığın varlığı ve nitelikleri için mantıklı ve gözlemlenebilir kanıtlar sunduğunu öne sürer. Doğal ilahiyatın yöntemini astronomi ve anatomi gibi doğa bilimleriyle karşılaştırarak, bir Yaratıcıya olan inancın bilimsel keşiflerle aynı gözlemsel ilkelere dayandığını gösterir. Abstract:
Lord Brougham’s influential treatise systematically defends natural theology as a rigorous, empirical science grounded in inductive reasoning. Brougham argues that the study of the physical world and the intricate design of the human mind provides logical, observable evidence for the existence and attributes of a Supreme Being. By comparing the methodology of natural theology with physical sciences such as astronomy and anatomy, he demonstrates that belief in a Creator relies on the same observational principles as scientific discovery. Furthermore, Brougham highlights the moral, intellectual, and psychological benefits of this study, asserting that it strengthens rational faith, elevates human nature, and harmonizes scientific inquiry with religious conviction.
