Fairweather, Origenes’i 3. yüzyıl İskenderiye’sinin entelektüel ortamı içinde konumlandırarak Platonculuk ve Stoacılık başta olmak üzere antik Grek felsefesi ilkelerini Hristiyan kutsal metinleriyle nasıl sentezlediğini ve Hristiyan teolojisinin ilk kapsamlı sistemini nasıl kurduğunu gösterir. Eser; Origenes’in alegorik Kutsal Kitap yorumlama metodunu, Üçleme (Teslis) ve ruhların önceden var oluşu doktrinlerini ve öğretileri etrafında çıkan tartışmaları sistematik biçimde inceler.
