Abstract:<\/strong>
With the transition from feudalism to capitalism, the economic and social structure of society changed due to the shift in the mode of production. Unlike the old mode of production, the new one was based on exchange value. As exchange value came to dominate the economic structure, the fact that raw materials were transformed into commodities through labor was forgotten; over time, a perception emerged in society that commodities were valuable in and of themselves. The beginning of this process\u2014which we might also call the fetishization of commodities\u2014is marked by commodity production. It is essential to understand the production systems that accelerated the generalization of commodity production. The shift from traditional production to the Taylorist production system led to increased commodification. Subsequently, with the advent of Fordist production\u2014which introduced the assembly line\u2014the pace of commodification accelerated even further, and consequently, commodity fetishism began to dominate society to an even greater extent. Finally, following the emergence of the flexible\/post-Fordist production system, as consumers began to prefer specific brands and the latest models of commodities, commodity fetishism has transformed into an ideological illusion that transcends exchange value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
