Abstract:<\/strong>
Classical Turkish literature is characterized by an aesthetic sensibility shaped around specific archetypes. In addition to primary archetypes such as the beloved, the lover, the rival, the Sufi, and the ascetic, the archetypes that emerge as poetic images centered on the beloved and the lover in the mesnevis\u2014and which poets have enriched and developed over the centuries\u2014reflect the defining characteristics of this literature. In fact, through these archetypes, the intellectual and imaginative world of the period in which the works were written can be easily traced within the framework of historical contexts and intertextuality. Given the fact that our culture has been firmly transmitted from generation to generation through texts, it is undoubtedly essential to examine the texts of classical Turkish literature, which have explored the subtleties of our emotional and intellectual world for nearly six centuries. Although numerous studies have been conducted pointing out that classical Turkish literature is both the source and the bearer of our culture, it is also true that there is still a long way to go in this regard. Examining the various aspects of this body of work and enriching it with new research will facilitate a better understanding of classical Turkish literature\u2019s place in our cultural memory. Comprising eleven chapters, this volume was prepared with the aim of bringing together research conducted in the field of classical Turkish literature within a common academic framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
