Folklore in the Old Testament, biblical narratives through the lens of comparative folklore and anthropology. Frazer examines stories in the Hebrew Bible\u2014such as creation, the flood, patriarchal traditions, and ritual laws\u2014and compares them with myths, legends, and customs from other ancient cultures. By placing biblical traditions alongside Near Eastern, Mediterranean, and global folklore, the work explores how similar narrative motifs and ritual practices appear across societies. Frazer\u2019s analysis does not aim to diminish the religious significance of the text; rather, it situates biblical traditions within a broader human cultural context, revealing shared mythological structures and the historical development of religious ideas.
