<p><strong>Öz:</strong><br>Ernest Babelon’un <em>Manual of Oriental Antiquities</em> (Doğu Eski Eserleri El Kitabı, 1889) adlı çalışması, Yakındoğu uygarlıklarının sanatını, mimarisini ve maddi kültürünü inceleyen kapsamlı bir arkeoloji rehberidir. B. T. A. Evetts tarafından İngilizceye çevrilen eser; Keldani, Asur, Pers, Suriye, Yahudiye, Fenike ve Kartaca’nın sanatsal geleneklerini ele alır. Babelon; anıtları, taş kabartmaları, metal işçiliğini, seramikleri, mühür taşlarını ve mimari kalıntıları tarihsel ve dini bağlamları içinde sistematik olarak sınıflandırır. 19. yüzyıl kazı bulgularını titiz bir sanat tarihi analiziyle birleştiren el kitabı, Antik Doğu ve Akdeniz kültürlerinin birbirlerini nasıl etkilediğini ve klasik sanatın temellerini nasıl attığını açıklar.<br><strong>Abstract:</strong><br>Ernest Babelon’s <em>Manual of Oriental Antiquities</em> (1889) is a comprehensive archaeological handbook examining the art, architecture, and material culture of ancient Near Eastern civilizations. Translated and enlarged by B. T. A. Evetts, the text covers the artistic traditions of Chaldea, Assyria, Persia, Syria, Judaea, Phoenicia, and Carthage. Babelon systematically categorizes monuments, stone reliefs, metalwork, ceramics, engraved gems, and architectural ruins, placing them within their historical and religious contexts. By synthesizing 19th-century excavation findings with meticulous art-historical analysis, the manual provides a structured overview of how ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern cultures influenced one another and laid the groundwork for classical art.</p>
