<p><strong>Öz:</strong><br>Folklore in the Old Testament adlı eser, Eski Ahit’te yer alan anlatıları karşılaştırmalı folklor ve antropoloji perspektifiyle inceleyen önemli bir çalışmadır. Frazer, yaratılış, tufan, atalar anlatıları ve çeşitli ritüeller gibi kutsal metindeki öyküleri ele alarak bunları farklı toplumların mitleri, efsaneleri ve gelenekleriyle karşılaştırır. Yakın Doğu, Akdeniz ve diğer kültürlerde görülen benzer motifleri inceleyerek anlatıların kültürler arası ortaklıklarını ortaya koyar. Eser, kutsal metnin dini değerini tartışmaktan ziyade, bu anlatıların insanlık tarihindeki mitolojik düşünce, ritüel pratikleri ve kültürel aktarım süreçleri içindeki yerini göstermeyi amaçlar.<br><br><strong>Abstract:</strong><br>Folklore in the Old Testament, biblical narratives through the lens of comparative folklore and anthropology. Frazer examines stories in the Hebrew Bible—such as creation, the flood, patriarchal traditions, and ritual laws—and compares them with myths, legends, and customs from other ancient cultures. By placing biblical traditions alongside Near Eastern, Mediterranean, and global folklore, the work explores how similar narrative motifs and ritual practices appear across societies. Frazer’s analysis does not aim to diminish the religious significance of the text; rather, it situates biblical traditions within a broader human cultural context, revealing shared mythological structures and the historical development of religious ideas.<br></p>
